VISAKHAPATNAM: At least 56 tribal youth from Maoist-affected areas in the Visakha agency in Andhra Pradesh have been selected for various paramilitary forces through staff selection commission. They were trained for the SSC examinations by Visakha Rural Police.
To divert the tribal youth from the Maoists’ influence and also guide them for the competitive exams in a proper way, the Visakha Rural police with the help of ITDA Paderu and Ken Foundation provided a free coaching camp following the SSC GD notification for the posts in BSF, CRPF, ITBP, CISF, and other paramilitary posts.
“We have provided them free accommodation and food, besides coaching with better faculty. We have already provided this kind of physical training and also coaching for written tests for many batches. Scores of tribal youth were inducted into paramilitary forces,” the Visakha Rural SP B Krishna Rao and anti naxal operation ODS S Satish Kumar said.
As a part of the community policing Spoorthi-3, they conducted written examinations for free training in the Paderu, Chintapalli, and Araku areas in the month of October. Around 200 tribal youth including 40 women were selected out of 3,800 youth who attended the exams.
All the 200 tribal youths were given free coaching for the SSC written test at YTC Vepagunta in Vizag with expert faculty from Sridhar Academy of Vijayawada for two months. The police higher officials including Rao, Satish Kumar, and others shared their experiences.
Few tribal youth out of 140 who were trained by the cops and already inducted into the paramilitary forces have also interacted with the present batch of trainees and instilled confidence among them.
