Virus cases spread to more Renfrewshire schools - secondaries are hit worst

Five high schools and two primaries joined the growing number of coronavirus cases in Renfrewshire yesterday.

Outbreaks have been identified and test and trace teams are now working to alert close contacts for isolation purposes.

The seven schools involved came on top of a weekend that saw East Fulton Primary in Linwood and St James’ in Renfrew added to the list.

The schools where new cases have been found are at  Trinity High in Renfrew, Johnstone High, Park Mains High in Erskine and Gleniffer High and St Andrew’s High, both Paisley.

St Andrew’s has already been at the centre of previous cases.

The new primary schools are St Paul’s in Foxbar and Barsail in Erskine.

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Public Health have sent letters to all parents.

It says: “We  have worked closely with the school and Renfrewshire Council to identify all close contacts of anyone who has tested positive.

“All contacts are being contacted and advised to self-isolate as a precaution. “If you do not receive a further letter from Public Health then your child or children can continue to go to school as normal.”

Environmental Health Officers have been called in to the schools where it appears infection has been transmitted.
