Tokyo confirmed 5,074 new cases of novel coronavirus infections on Saturday.
The daily tally exceeded 5,000 for the fourth consecutive day, but fell by 20 from the same day a week earlier.
According to the Tokyo metropolitan government, the number of seriously ill COVID-19 patients fell by three to 270 from Friday, while the deaths of six people in their 30s to 80s were confirmed.
The seven-day moving average of new cases was 4,719, up 12% from 4,231 in the preceding seven-day period.
