Virus cannot stop Zumba goddess from getting back into the lycra

The whirlwind that COVID-19 tried to stop is back doing what she does best.

Fiona Young has beaten the bug and is delighted to have hosted a virtual ‘Dance & Donate’ session from her conservatory in Prestwick.

The 42-year-old Zumba dancer - that's her above - was stricken by the bug despite being young and fit.

And she featured on BBC Reporting Scotland looking dreadful as she battled the virus.

But the lycra was pulled back on, the lippy applied and the hair perfected for the 2.6 Challenge.

She and more than 100 ladies following the live link danced themselves dizzy for 26 minutes on April 26.

And Fiona said: “It was such a pleasure to be able to run an event like this and raise much needed funds.

“More than 30 charities benefited including Ayrshire Cancer Support and Hansel.”

The super-fit pro dancer is now doing free 30-minute live sessions from her conservatory on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 10am.

She said: “This is keeping everybody dancing, moving and keeping positive.

“And it gives me a reason to get dressed up and my make-up on.”

Just dig out the tutu and look on Facebook to find her classes.
