Virtual version of Kirkcudbright's Buckland Burn Up proves great success

A virtual Buckland Burn Up proved to be a great success.

The annual race in Kirkcudbright had to be cancelled due to the coronavirus lockdown.

So organisers challenged entrants to run five miles and then post their times online.

And 267 people of all ages and abilities did that across a two-week period, sharing photos of their efforts on social media.

There were serious runners, fun runners, newbies and walkers.

Youngsters also took part over a shorter 1km course.

Everyone who took part received a medal and a competition encouraged people to take photos of their keepsake in a funny or interesting place.
