Virgin Voyages launches third cruise ship with spa, pyjama parties and themed brunch

Virgin Voyages' third cruise ship has officially made her debut, taking to the seas for a glamorous sailing around Greece on her maiden voyage.

Resilient Lady has officially joined Sir Richard Branson's cruise line, heading on a seven-night trip with ports of call including Santorini, Rhodes, Bodrum in Turkey, and Mykonos.

She's the third of four adults-only ships for the brand, where passengers - or 'sailors' as they're dubbed - can enjoy the likes of a luxury spa, themed brunches, epic parties, nightclubs, bars and even an on-board tattoo parlour.

The new ship will also take things one step further with five brand new shows, two all new soirées in The Manor, exclusive on-board parties, more live music acts and a festival stage of rotating performances.

Her sister ships Scarlet Lady and Valiant Lady have already become a hit with those looking for cruise holidays with a difference. (There's a reason why Valiant Lady was in our pick of the best new cruise ships in 2022).

Sir Richard Branson said of Resilient Lady: "Virgin Voyages delivers an amazing experience and has been recognised by hundreds of thousands of happy Sailors with the awards we’ve won for our service, food, design, entertainment and more.

"We have shown the world all that we have to offer when it comes to having the holiday of your dreams, and I can’t wait to show off our lovely new Resilient Lady in one of the most magical places in the world as she sails around the Greek Isles, Croatia, Turkey and more."

Tom McAlpin, CEO of Virgin Voyages said that since the cruise line first launched in 2020, the brand has seen a "very high rate of return with up to 40% of our Sailors rebooking their next cruise while they’re still on-board with us".

Resilient Lady will sail around Greece on her inaugural summer season, before heading over to Australia for a series of cruises in Australia and New Zealand between December 2023 and March 2024.

Of course if you are planning to go on a cruise, you may want to consider the onboard dress codes - both official, and unofficial.

One cruise passenger was recently accused of being "tacky" for their choice of outfit worn down to the breakfast buffet.

Reddit user ‘Automatic_Aide_6012’ spotted the outfit and later wrote: “What are your thoughts on wearing pyjamas on a cruise breakfast?

“I think it is kind of nice to wake up early, brush your teeth and head straight to breakfast. Then you can leisurely head back to your stateroom and get ready before starting your daily activities.”

However, it seems that other holidaymakers were less than impressed, with one person slamming them as "tacky".

"Put on some casual clothes and go to breakfast. You’re on vacation but you’re not at your house," one person wrote.

Another passenger said they usually brought a pair of "jogger pants and a sweatshirt" for the breakfast buffet, so they could quickly change before heading down.

One passenger said they felt that eating breakfast in the restaurant while wearing pyjamas was "tacky".
