Irish weather guru Deric Ó h’Artagáin criticises plans for giant sewage plant after day out at north Dublin beach

Virgin Media weatherman Deric Ó h’Artagáin is well known for his TV appearances and stylish outfits, but did you know he's also a fitness fanatic?

The popular star, who is vegan and a gym bunny, showed off his impressive six pack on a day out at the beach today.

He took to Instagram to share a snap with his 21.9k followers.

"Great Sunday sea swim today," he wrote.

"Hit the northside beaches to mix it up. Well done to all the team in Portmarnock for keeping the beach in pristine condition and retaining its blue flag status; despite plans to try to build a monster new sewage treatment facility which involves building large tunnels under both UNESCO and European protected sites and pumping sewage which has not been treated to tertiary standards just off the coast - which in turn will jeopardise people’s health, protected plants and wildlife."

Deric has completed countless triathlons and did the Liffey Swim last month.

Several friends and followers commented on some of the snaps he shared from his swim.

"Well done Deric, not just on competing in the swim, but also looking fabulous in a pair of Budgie Smugglers," joked one.

"Some body on ya!!!!!!" wrote another, while a third said: "Looking fit best of luck!"

Deric loves to cook and turned to veganism as a way to get more creative in the kitchen and eat healthier.

To stay fit, he either goes to the gym or goes swimming every day.
