Virgin Media Tonight Show viewers react as Dublin goes head to head with Kerry

All eyes were on the Tonight Show on Virgin Media this evening as two of Ireland's most polar opposite politicians went head to head.

Fine Gael's Jennifer Carroll-McNeill from Dublin's Dun Laoghaire constituency squared off with Independent Michael Healy-Rae from Kerry and the audience had plenty to say.

The city versus rural divide certainly stirred up opinions from the public, with many taking sides and saying they held their own during the debate.

Here's how social media reacted as two of Ireland's very different parts of society clashed in one of the most exciting moments from Wednesday night.

Ireland reacts on Jennifer Carroll-McNeill vs Michael Healy Rae

"Jennifer Carroll McNeill and Michael Healy Rae would make a great buddy cop movie #tonightvmtv"

"Are there two more polar opposites of Irish society than Jennifer Carroll MacNeill and Michael Healy-Rae? #TonightVMTV"
