Virgin Media Tonight Show viewers praise presenter Claire Brock for 'lashing' Simon Harris

Viewers of The Tonight Show on Virgin Media praised Claire Brock for holding some of Ireland's politicians to account on Wednesday's programme.

The broadcaster helmed a busy show which featured an interview with Higher Education Minister Simon Harris.

Also on the programme were Roisin Shorthall from the Social Democrats, Fianna Fail TD Cormac Devlin, and Professor Sam McConkey.

However, it was Minister Harris' appearance that led droves of Virgin Media viewers to share their opinions on social media.

Some people were quick to praise Brock for asking the tough questions.

One person said: "Enjoy listening to @ClaireBrockTV lashing it into these bluffers off politicians we have #TonightVMTV."

Others were critical of Minister Harris for his comments on nightclubs reopening, as well as on the situation facing many students who can't find accommodation or afford food.

One viewer said: "I don't want any student going to Food Banks,".. says SH on #TonightVMTV But they ( College Students) ARE going to Food Banks Simon Harris!"

A second said: "@TonightVMTV why is the minster for higher education talking about Covid-19 and not caring about students and saying the only students are under 29 when he ignores disability students?"

A third wrote: "#simonharris not planning to go to a nightclub today or tomorrow. Just as well, since they won’t be open, same as the last 19 months."

Another added: "Simon Harris thinks people are not going to congregate inside a nightclub? Like?"

Someone else said: "#tonightVMTV I Think @SimonHarrisTD should sell Emojis that's all."

While another viewer chimed in: "Good of Simon Harris to take 20 minutes off his TikTok time to do Fine Gael spin. #TonightVMTV."
