Virgin Media text scam alert issued to customers as 'FluBot malware' strikes again

Virgin Media has issued a scam alert over fraudsters targeting their customers via text message.

Customers have been receiving texts informing them that they have a new voice message, accompanied by a clickable URL.

Those who click on the URL are in danger of being scammed.

Virgin Media Ireland issued an important customer notice about the latest fraud scheme on Friday morning.

They said: "The cyber threat known as FluBot malware has been around for a few months and in its latest form, it is now falsely informing customers that they have a voice message via text and sharing a clickable URL."

The telecommunications company gave instructions to customers on what to do if they receive one of these scam texts.

"Do not click any links in the text. Delete the text from your phone..

"If you believe you have been the subject of one of these attacks, you should factory reset your phone as soon as possible."
