Virgin Media's response to woman who was left in tears after installation gaffe

Virgin Media has responded after a woman was left in tears when the firm installed a junction box directly in front of her driveway.

Hanna Dillon was left fuming when she spotted the four-foot box to be blocking her driveway, the Mirror reports.

The 32-year-old was forced to race home after neighbours informed her that contractors were fitting the box.

But, now the home entertainment company says that the box has been installed at her driveway for two decades and workers were just replacing an old one.

Hanna has been attempting to get the box moved and her neighbour agreed to have it installed next to her boundary wall - just a few feet away from its current location.

Hanna, who is not a Virgin Media customer, then said: "They just kept laughing. I cried. I am going to lose money on the house now."

The new box is an upgraded connection to the cable TV network, but it is much bigger than the previous one.

But it restricts her driveway access which has infuriated her: "It is a massive box. How am I supposed to get in and out the driveway with that in the way? I can't believe it."

Hanna had applied to the local authority for a dropped kerb so she could move her car into her driveway.

Hanna has lived at the home for eight years and has invested a significant amount of cash upgrading her property.

Virgin Media said the box merely replaced an older one and they had offered to move the box in the past but, after providing a quote but Hanna did not pursue it.

A spokeswoman for Virgin Media told the paper: "The cabinet outside Ms Dillon’s home has been located in the same position for more than 20 years.

"We recently replaced the damaged cabinet with a new one to help safeguard our network at a time when connectivity has never been more important.

"If a customer is unhappy with the location of one of our cabinets, they should contact us directly and we will review their concerns."
