Virgin Media's explanation after woman left in tears over junction box at end of drive

An internet provider has given a bizarre explanation as to why a junction box was installed directly in front of a woman's driveway leaving her in tears.

Virgin Media installed the massive new junction box directly in front of Hanna Dillon's driveway leaving her distraught about its position.

Now, the internet provider has bizarrely said it has been based directly in front of her driveway for more than 20 years.

The 32-year-old rushed home when neighbours told her about contractors installing the massive four-foot high box in front of her driveway.

The Mirror told how she pleaded with them to move it just a few feet over after a neighbour agreed for it to be next to her boundary wall.

Hanna, who is not a Virgin Media customer, then said: "They just kept laughing. I cried. I am going to lose money on the house now."

The new box is an upgraded connection to the cable TV network, but it is much bigger than the previous one.

But it restricts her driveway access which has infuriated her: "It is a massive box. How am I supposed to get in and out the driveway with that in the way? I can't believe it."

Hanna had applied to the local authority for a dropped kerb so she could move her car into her driveway.

Hanna has lived at the home for eight years and has invested a significant amount of cash upgrading her property.

Virgin Media said the box merely replaced an older one and they had offered to move the box in the past but, after providing a quote but Hanna did not pursue it.

A spokeswoman for Virgin Media told the paper: "The cabinet outside Ms Dillon’s home has been located in the same position for more than 20 years.

"We recently replaced the damaged cabinet with a new one to help safeguard our network at a time when connectivity has never been more important.

"If a customer is unhappy with the location of one of our cabinets, they should contact us directly and we will review their concerns."
