Virgin Media issue statement as frustrated broadband users all notice one trend in outages

Virgin Media fixed its internet problems overnight after customers experienced connectivity issues on Monday evening.

Thousands of broadband users kept having their internet cut out from just after 5pm, which created many problems for those working at home.

After fixing the problem, the company said it was not caused by a capacity issue or spike in usage, but a bug instead.

A spokesperson for the company said: "The issue was fixed in the early hours of this morning. It was not caused by a spike in usage or a lack of network capacity.

Leo Varadkar says internet is brilliant but dangerous

"We know how frustrating this was for everyone and we’re really sorry for the disruption caused."

Customers of the broadband provider had noticed that, strangely, the drop in connection always happened at 17 minutes past each hour.

People took to Twitter to share what they noticed and it became clear this was a problem for everyone.

One customer said: "Every hour at 17 minutes past Virgin Media internet has gone down.

Another said: "Imagine every 17 minutes past the hour me, my friend and about half the lobby gets kicked out of our warzone game due to Virgin Media."

The issue has now been fixed, but Virgin Media will offer further updates on their social media accounts if any further problems arise.
