Virgin Media internet outage leaves customers offline

Some Virgin Media customers have been left without access to broadband internet this morning.

The service has been down across the UK, according to reports - but households in London appear to be the worst affected, as well as those in Cardiff, Cambridge, Brighton and Norwich.

Downdetector, which records outages, said 80% of reported problems are internet access issues.

The reports statted coming in at around 10.24am, and peaked at 10.39am.

So far, around 1,400 people have complained about the service, reported the Mirror.

On Downdetector at 9.40am, one person said: "Virgin Media broadband currently down in Macclesfield, it was up briefly for 45 mins but been mainly down since I got up at 7:30am."

More recently, at around 11.20am, another said: "My network appeared to drop momentarily and then came back up but is slower cabled in that it was before. Still not sure something is quite right. Will need to reboot in my lunch break."

Virgin has been apologising to customers via Twitter and advised some to "try factory resetting the hub".
