Virgin Media internet down as outage leaves customers unable to get online

Virgin Media customers across the UK were left without broadband on Wednesday due to a temporary signal outage.

The disruption affected households in most cities in England, although customers in the South East appeared to be the worst affected by connectivity issues.

Disappointed customers complained that the service has been down several times in the past month as millions continue to work from home.

One customer wrote online: “@virginmedia so my service has gone down again in my area.. Please make it more stable :/”.

Downdetector, which records outages, said 80% of reported problems were internet access issues, with complaints spiking at 10:30am.

The broadband provider said the outage lasted just 15 minutes.

Households in London appeared to be the worst affected, as well as those in Cardiff, Cambridge, Brighton and Norwich.

Around 1,600 people complained about the service, which the telecoms giant said is now resolved.

A Virgin Media spokesperson said: “Some customers very briefly lost access to certain online content and services this morning.

“We apologise to anyone impacted by this short issue which lasted around 15 minutes and has now been resolved”
