Frustrated Virgin Media users have complained that they are unable to use the internet.
Customers took to social media users to call on the broadband provider to solve the reported connection issues.
The Downdetector website said a spike in complaints at around 10.15am on Thursday suggested there were problems with Virgin Media.
Virgin Media told the Evening Standard it is investigating an issue that caused some customers to experience an "intermittent problem of around 5-10 minutes with their broadband service".
"The issue did not affect all customers and was not caused by a lack of capacity or a surge in demand - while services are currently stable we’re still looking into the root cause," said the spokesman.
The network difficulties come at a time when many customers are working from home during the coronavirus lockdown.
One social media user from Tower Hamlets called on Virgin Media for urgent assistance as he needs to access his WiFi for work.
Another customer complained the network issue was a reoccurring one.
Downdetector recorded issues with the network in areas including London, Birmingham, Glasgow and Manchester.
The majority of Virgin Media customers who reported issues with Downdetector said they had issues with cable internet (77 per cent).
In addition 16 per cent said they had issues with mobile internet and just 6 per cent reported issues with their TV.
But the Virgin Media spokesman added: "As we’ve previously stated, Down Detector is not an accurate reflection of our network status and provides no insight into where and why an issue may occur.”
