Virgin Media down as people lose access to emails

Virgin Media appears to be down as users are struggling to access emails.

The broadband, TV and phone service provider is having issues, with more than 1,000 customers reporting that they are unable to access their private messages. The problem appears to have begun last night, with the first reports at around 6pm.

However this morning, more people are flagging an issue on Downdector in the last hour. Down Detector UK, which monitors outages across Britain, has 1953 reports at the time of publishing, according to the Mirror.

With so many people left unable to access their emails, there's now a flurry of messages appearing on Twitter. One user called Coluche59 said: "Anyone else having problems with Virgin Media email in the UK? It's been down since just after 23:00 Sunday 18 June, UK time (just over 9 hours) with login failures and failures to find the servers."

Meanwhile, Virgin customer Dave fumed that he has been without access for over 9 hours. He tweeted: "@virginmedia still no email only 9 hours and still no update from you."

The timing of the glitch couldn't be worse with users logging in on a Monday morning to check personal and work emails. A Virgin Media spokesperson said: “We’re aware of an issue that is affecting our Virgin Media email service for customers. Our teams are working to resolve the problem as quickly as possible, and we apologise for the inconvenience caused.”
