Virgin Media down as hundreds of customers left without internet or email access

If you've found yourself Googling the phrase 'is Virgin down?' this morning, you're far from alone - with the popular Internet Service Provider seemingly having some serious issues with regards to users being able to access their internet and emails. Bugs within the system reportedly started crawling out of the woodwork yesterday evening, and are still ongoing this morning.

Down Detector UK monitors outages for internet-based services across Great Britain, and at the time of writing, has published almost 900 reports of issues with Virgin Media.

And while some headed straight for the popular monitoring website to voice their complaints, others took to social media in typical style to notify Virgin directly.

The Mirror reports that one user, wrote: "Anyone else having problems with Virgin Media email in the UK? It's been down since just after 23:00 Sunday 18 June, UK time (just over 9 hours) with login failures and failures to find the servers."

Another, added: "@virginmedia. No email service - when will this be fixed please??!!!" while a third, went on: "@virginmedia still no email only 9 hours and still no update from you."

The timing of the bug couldn't have come at a worse time, with many users looking to log on to start their work week by checking personal and work emails. There's currently no word on what has caused the glitch to occur, or when Virgin will fix it - but you can continue to check Down Detector UK who provide regular updates.

A Virgin Media spokesperson said: “We’re aware of an issue that is affecting our Virgin Media email service for customers. Our teams are working to resolve the problem as quickly as possible, and we apologise for the inconvenience caused.”
