Virgin Media apologises after broadband goes down for customers in Northern Ireland

Virgin Media has been forced to apologise to thousands of customers after their broadband service went down for customers of people across UK - including customers in Northern Ireland.

People were experiencing internet issues yesterday evening as several outages seem to be affecting Virgin's service, particularly in Belfast and Derry.

The Virgin Media outage map on downdetector.co.uk  showed that there were hotspots of outages across the country.

The problems,which started just before 5pm on April 27th, according to data from Downdetector, which monitors online outages.

Virgin Media confirmed that they were experiencing national issues with their broadband and mobile service.

How to complain about your broadband

A Virgin Media spokesperson said: “An intermittent broadband issue that started yesterday evening was fixed in the early hours of this morning. This was not caused by increased usage or a lack of capacity.

"We know how frustrating this was for customers and we sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
