Virgin Media adds 80 free fitness classes to TV service

January is often a time many of us start an annual health kick. But with the dark nights, it's not always easy to drag yourself to the nearest gym, especially with the cost of living continuing to hit families in the pocket.

Well, Virgin Media has an answer for its customers. The entertainment giant has added 80 free fitness classes to its TV service to help keep customers more active.

The company says the average Brit would spend around £155 a year on the standard fitness class. But customers can save money and enjoy a range of sessions including yoga, cardio, strength and a kids' workout.

It comes after streaming platform Netflix unveiled a similar fitness programme. Teaming up with sportswear giant Nike, it released a series of Nike Training Club videos last month.

Virgin TV, teaming up with Nuffield Health, Fiit and Fit at Home, has now launched a variety of workouts including Disco DanceFit, HIIT and Kids & Fun. The classes require minimal or no equipment and are available for all fitness levels.

To access the classes, Virgin TV customers can simply head to channel 999 or can tune in when it suits them by clicking On Demand or Catch Up > Get Moving for TiVo/ V6 boxes, or for 360/ Stream boxes, head to Box Sets & Movies > Get Moving. There will be 80 different classes available.

David Bouchier, Chief TV and Entertainment Officer at Virgin Media O2, said: "Setting resolutions and creating healthier ‘New year, new you’ habits is often top of people’s goals for the year. However, trying to keep fit whilst juggling everyday demands and the current financial pressures can be challenging. That’s why we’re offering our customers free fitness sessions via Virgin TV to provide a convenient and cost-effective way to exercise at home. With a variety of classes for all abilities and fitness levels, there’s something for everyone. So, pick up the remote control, dig out that sports kit and we’ll help you keep at least one New Year resolution in 2023.”

The workouts are available to all Virgin TV customers across TiVo, V6, TV 360 and Stream at no extra cost. Check out a selection of the sessions HERE
