Virgin Australia has announced the revival of its Velocity Frequent Flyers 1 Point Rewards Store across three Australian cities.
The one-day pop-up store allows Velocity Frequent Flyer members to cash in a singular point for big ticket items including Dyson Airwraps, Bose QuietComfort headphones, LED masks, fragrances from designer brands and lounge access passes.
Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane are the three lucky Aussie cities who will get to cash in on the fun. Sydney is up first on 22 August from 8am, with the shop to be held at Pitt Street. Melbourne and Brisbane’s dates and locations haven’t been announced yet, but you can bet I’m refreshing Virgin’s Instagram page like crazy until I have the Melb date and location secured.
Basically, there’s a mystery prize carousel and a claw machine, as well as Myer reward shelves lined with prizes you’ll be itching to get your hands on. You’ll try your luck on the games, and pray you land on a high value item (I’ve got my eyes on those Bose headphones).
Once you’ve found out your prize, one Velocity Point will be deducted form your account to claim. Yep, all you need is a balance of one point. And if you don’t have any points? The Virgin Australia cabin crew are there to guide you on how you can earn some quick points on the spot.
There’ll be DJs to keep the vibes high while you wait in line (because unfortunately, you will be waiting in line).
Rewards are limited to one per customer, per location. So, hey, if you’re feeling lucky, you could book yourself a flight to the other two cities and go for gold.
The pop-up is all about highlighting how easy it is to earn points and cash out on rewards with Velocity Frequent Flyer, with 59 per cent of loyalty program members seeking more achievable rewards.
“Velocity is all about getting our members to rewards faster and the 1 Point Rewards Store puts the spotlight on that,” Nick Rohrlach, CEO of Velocity Frequent Flyer, said.
The Velocity Frequent Flyers 1 Point Rewards Store follows the original sell-out pop-up Virgin hosted in Melbourne in 2023 on Chapel Street. Customers won the Dyson Supersonic Nural hairdryer, Ghd products, Smeg appliances (jealous), designer jewellery and accessories, and more. And this year, it’s shaping up to be even bigger.
The rewards available while stocks last, and members must have at least one point in their Velocity account and the app downloaded to participate.
