Virgil van Dijk wins PFA Player of the Year beating Eden Hazard and Raheem Sterling

Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk has won the PFA Player of the Year award after beating out the likes of Manchester City's Raheem Sterling and Chelsea forward Eden Hazard.

Hazard has enjoyed a fantastic season for the Blues, bagging 16 goals and 13 assists in the Premier League.

Sterling has scored 17 goals and assisted nine times for Man City this term, while team-mate Sergio Aguero has impressed with 19 league goals.

But the award has gone to Van Dijk, it has been revealed, after a sensational defensive impact at Liverpool this season.

Van Dijk joined Liverpool in the 2018 January transfer window but has come on leaps and bounds in his first full campaign at Anfield, with the Reds having the league's best defensive record.

The Dutchman has been at the heart of that but it's fair to say his aforementioned rivals for the award can also feel a little hard done by as well.
