Virgil Van Dijk set to win PFA Player of the Year award

Liverpool's Virgil Van Dijk is set to be named the PFA Player of the Year on Thursday night after beating Raheem Sterling to the award.

The centre-back has produced a string of impressive displays to help the Reds to the top of the Premier League table, although his side could drop down to second if Manchester City beat Manchester United at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

Van Dijk was on a six-man shortlist for the award, with Sterling, his Anfield teammate Sadio Mane, Eden Hazard of Chelsea, and City's Sergio Aguero and Bernardo Silva making up the rest of the shortlist.

But it's the former Celtic and Southampton man who has reportedly came out on top, with Liverpool having lost just once this season with the Dutchman at the back, and have also conceded the least amount of goals in the league.
