Virgil van Dijk sends message to Liverpool fans after Brighton win

Birthday boy Virgil van Dijk sent a message to Liverpool supporters after the newly crowned Premier League champions made it back to back wins.

Liverpool lost their first match since landing the title when they were beaten 4-0 at outgoing champions Manchester City.

But the Reds bounced back at the weekend with a 2-0 home victory over Aston Villa.

And they followed that up with an even better performance in winning an entertaining game 3-1 at Brighton on Wednesday night.

The result ensured van Dijk’s 29th birthday ended in suitable style and after the game he was quick to thank the Liverpool fans.

The Dutch defender said: “Just wanted to say thank you for all the birthday messages.

“It was a good win tonight, we’re going home with the three points, which is the most important thing.

“Stay safe and hope to see you soon.”

The Reds are back in action on Saturday when they welcome Burnley to Anfield. That match – like every match in the Premier League currently – will be played behind closed doors and without supporters.

Liverpool need to win three of their final four games to beat Manchester City’s top-flight points record on 100.
