Virgil van Dijk sends Champions League message to Liverpool fans

Virgil van Dijk has sent a message to Liverpool fans after the final game of the season.

The Reds have finished third in the Premier League table after beating Crystal Palace 2-0 in their final match on Sunday.

Sadio Mane scored a brace as Liverpool secured Champions League football for next season in front of 10,000 supporters at Anfield.

Van Dijk has missed the vast majority of the campaign with a knee injury, but has been stepping up his rehabilitation in recent weeks.

The Dutchman was in attendance at Anfield to watch his team mates beat Palace, and took part in the post-match celebrations with lap of the pitch to thank supporters.

He has now taken to Twitter to send a message to the club’s fans, and has sent a warning to rival teams that he’ll be back.

Van Dijk wrote: “Well done to the boys today! A tough season for so many reasons but the team showed true strength of character.

“Back in the Champions League next season.

“See you soon, I can’t wait!”

Van Dijk has already confirmed that he will sit out the European Championships with the Netherlands in a bid to be fit for pre-season training for Liverpool.

The Reds will now take a well earned break before regrouping later on in the summer for the start of the 2021/22 campaign.
