Virgil van Dijk's message to Liverpool's rivals over Premier League title

Virgil Van Dijk can’t wait to silence rival fans who taunt Liverpool about their 30 years without a League crown.

Liverpool are just two wins from securing their first ever Premier League title and their first championship crown in three decades.

As the Coronavirus pandemic grips the UK, that’s now on hold with the Premier League suspended until April 3 at the earliest.

If and when Liverpool get their hands on the trophy Van Dijk will enjoy not hearing title taunts hurled his way.

“I have been aware of it because it has been such a while since we won the League.

“Rival fans always talk about us not having won the Premier League and when you are at the club you get these messages as well.

“It is something we are striving to achieve. We play for trophies all the time and I’ve been very fortunate to have won the Champions League last year, gone close to Man City who were a bit better than us in the league last year and now 25 points clear with a game in hand so things not too bad.

“Anyone is entitled to their opinion and the conversation about us not winning the League for so long is something I shut out - that doesn’t bother me at all.

“I just try to do my best every day whether it is in training or going out on the pitch and do everything I can to help the team.

Jurgen Klopp, like his captain, delivered a message to Red supporters (EMPICS Sport)

“Other people from other clubs don’t bother us – but it’ll be nice to shut them up!”

Should the league resume on April 3, the Reds' next game will be Manchester City .

If Jurgen Klopp's side can beat the Blues, they will secure their first ever Premier League title, as City will not be able to catch with them in the remaining fixtures.
