The centre-back has been out of action since the draw with Everton in the Merseyside derby, which was followed by fears that the Netherlands international would be sidelined for the remainder of the season.
That was understandably a huge blow to Jurgen Klopp's side and their pursuit of further glories following the trophy-laden recent campaigns.
Van Dijk 's absence from the defence has been widely discussed and, understandably, he is a clear void from the side and his presence at the back is missed.
Those hoping to see Van Dijk back in action before the season ends in May were perhaps given some encouragement following a fresh video published by the club.
Shared on social media, Van Dijk can be seen training in a gym as he continues his recovery - and teased supporters at the end by winking at the camera.
Many fans took that final action by Van Dijk as evidence that he will be back before the season draws to a close and have been encouraged by what they have seen.
Of course, it is a long road to recovery and Liverpool will be careful not to rush the former Southampton man back too quickly and risk a setback.
Still, there is no denying that seeing Van Dijk back on the field this season would be a tremendous boost and supporters on social media are hopeful that it will become a reality.
