Virgil van Dijk in awe of Mohamed Salah's Liverpool wondergoal in new footage

Mohamed Salah’s sensational solo goal against Manchester City caused a brilliant reaction from his teammate Virgil van Dijk.

In the clash between Liverpool and City, increasingly one of the most exciting matches of the season, Salah scored a thrilling goal in the 2-2 draw.

What started as a Liverpool throw-in on the right-flank was passed back to the defence, then into midfield with Curtis Jones.

Jones found Salah near the top right hand corner of the box and the Egyptian wonder worked his magic.

He spun a challenge from Rodri and left him in his wake, then Salah rolled it past Bernardo Silva, one of the most able and technical pressers in the league, and left the Portuguese midfielder on his bum.

Then Salah ran right at the heart of the City defence and spun Aymeric Laporte 180 degrees before slamming a right-footed shot home off the inside of the far post.

A goal of the season contender, the video was uploaded by Liverpool to show the stunning goal in “every angle” and it shows van Dijk’s brilliant on-field reaction.

The Dutchman raises his arms in disbelief during Salah’s weaving run, then when the Egyptian finds the back of the net he turns around in disbelief, looking to the crowd and the bench to understand what just happened.

Salah’s goal made the game 2-1 to Liverpool, but Kevin de Bruyne’s deflected effort meant that both teams went home with a share of the points.

Liverpool started the game well, as they tend to, but once City weathered the initial storm, Pep Guardiola’s side slowly took control of the game.

Phil Foden seems to enjoy playing Liverpool, and did once again.

James Milner stepped into right-back to replace the absent Trent Alexander-Arnold and had a torrid time against Foden.

The young City attacker turned Milner inside out multiple times, and by the end of the game, Milner was fortunate to have not been sent off.

Despite a goalless first half, it did not take long into the second-half for Sadio Mane to put the Reds ahead.

Foden would draw City level before Salah’s exceptional solo goal pulled them ahead before de Bruyne’s 81st minute strike equalised.

The Egyptian attacker has been in exceptional form recently, scoring his 100th Premier League goal.

In nine games this season, Salah has nine goals and three assists already and only looks to continue his fine form.

However, this comes amidst increasing speculation that Salah and his camp, and Liverpool are struggling to come to an agreement over a new contract.

At present, the two parties are some way apart, despite being keen to find an agreement.

This is because the Egyptian reportedly will demand a wage in the region of 300,000 a week, but this would shatter Liverpool’s current wage structure.

It would put the Egyptian somewhere between £80-£100,000 above Liverpool’s current highest earners.

Some worry this could create issues within the dressing room, but there remains hope that a new contract will be announced by January.
