Virgil van Dijk explains how Manchester United injuries will affect Liverpool FC

Virgil van Dijk insists Liverpool will not be complacent when they face a Manchester United team missing two of its best players this weekend.

United host Liverpool in the Premier League fixture on Sunday afternoon and go into the match a staggering 15 points behind Jurgen Klopp's league leaders.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side need a lift after a dire start to the new season, but will have to do so without the help of injured duo David de Gea and Paul Pogba.

However, despite going into the game with a depleted squad Van Dijk has warned his Liverpool teammates to be wary of their opponents who will be looking to prove a point.

"For them, it is not the ideal situation to lose your first-choice goalkeeper, one of the best in the world, and one of their main midfielders,” the Liverpool defender said to Sky Sports.

“They will be disappointed but for us, we just want to focus on ourselves.

"They're not in the best way, they're not fully confident and they're not in the situation they want to be in. But the good thing about football is you can bounce back in any game.

"They might think this is the best occasion to bounce back from it but we know that. We want to go out and fight for every metre on the pitch and try and take the three points back to Liverpool.”
