Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson and how Liverpool players voted in FIFA Best award

FIFA's annual award ceremony took place on Thursday evening, on a night where Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp clinched Coach of the Year for the second season in a row.

Fresh from bringing the league title to Anfield for the first time in three decades, Klopp was selected ahead of Bayern Munich's treble-winning coach Hansi Flick and Leeds United's Marcelo Bielsa.

In the Player Award, Bayern striker Robert Lewandowski clinched the prize, with perennial winners Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi forced to settle for a spot in the top three this time around.

Voting for the awards is compiled through votes from national team captains, national team coaches, members of the media and fans.

For the captains and coaches, the first choice is awarded three points, the second choice receives two points and third place receives a single point.

With over 200 FIFA recognised nations, the voting is significantly in-depth and, every year, headlines are made as FIFA releases the full voting results.

Three Liverpool players are among those given a vote, with Naby Keita the captain of Guinea, Virgil van Dijk skipper of the Netherlands and Andy Robertson captain of Scotland.

You can see their full voting list below.
