Virgil Abloh teases new Nike trainer at Coachella

You didn’t need to pay the $429 Coachella ticket admission to watch the Californian festival.

The social media output at this year’s annual event was even more extensive than usual, meaning you could watch Childish Gambino’s performance in real time on social media while polishing off a Milk Tray on your sofa.

It makes sense then, that Virgil Abloh chose Instagram to tease Off-White’s latest trainer collaboration with Nike. The label's founder uploaded a photo of his shoes without a caption, but has been commented on by everyone from Diddy to AJ Tracey.

The trainers feature hiking boot laces, a metallic silver tick and a fuchsia rubber sole with spikes. The new design is an eclectic cross between a vintage running shoe, hiking boot and Nike’s Air Zoom Terra Kiger series.

Last September, Abloh hosted an athletics-themed Off-White SS19 runway show at Paris Fashion Week, and it's widely thought that the Nike trainers could feature in the same collection once it drops.

Abloh has collaborated with Nike in the past on the ‘The Ten’ collection, which reworked ten classic Nike silhouettes.
