NEW DELHI: Virat Kohli achieved a significant milestone by breaking Sachin Tendulkar's record for the most runs in ICC World Cups (combining 50-over and T20Is) during the ODI World Cup 2023 match against Afghanistan on Wednesday.
Kohli, in his 53rd World Cup innings, surpassed Tendulkar's tally of 2278 runs with an impressive average of over 60.
In his 28 ODI World Cup innings, Kohli has accumulated a total of 1164 runs at an average of 50.60, including two centuries and seven fifties. He currently stands as the third-highest run-scorer for India in ODI World Cups, trailing only Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly.
In addition to his ODI World Cup achievements, Kohli has also made his mark in T20 World Cups. He has participated in five T20 World Cups and leads the batting charts with 1141 runs in 25 innings, boasting an outstanding average of 81.50.
This remarkable performance solidifies his status as one of the most accomplished cricketers in the world.
