MUMBAI: With dark clouds of uncertainty gathering over the fate of India's tour to South Africa following the outbreak of one more Covid variant - Omicron - Virat Kohli and coach Rahul Dravid have sought clarity from the BCCI "to understand exactly what's going on".
Addressing an online press conference ahead of the second Test against New Zealand at Wankhede, the India captain said, "We have been talking to the board and we are pretty confident within a day or two or pretty soon, we will have absolute clarity as to what is going on."
On Thursday, Cricket South Africa postponed the latest round of matches in Division 2 of the country's four-day provincial competition due to numerous covid cases. "You want to seek clarity as soon as possible, so we have spoken to all the senior members of the squad. Obviously, Rahul bhai has initiated a conversation within the group, which is important to know.
"At the end of the day, we understand. Our focus from the Test will not shift regardless, but also know that you would want to have clarity and you want to be in a situation where you know exactly what's going on," Kohli said and stressed that these were not normal times.
