Virat Kohli goes for golden duck in the last T20I before World Cup

NEW DELHI: Cricket enthusiasts and fans of batting maestro Virat Kohli experienced a significant letdown as the modern-day great faced a golden duck, getting out on the very first ball in the third and final T20I against Afghanistan on Wednesday.

The unexpected early departure of the prolific Indian cricketer marked a disappointing moment for his supporters in Bengaluru, which is second home for Kohli after Delhi.

The outcome added a surprising twist to the game and left fans eagerly awaiting Kohli's future innings, hopeful for a return to his usual impactful performances on the cricket field.

Kohli, who needed six runs to become the first first Indian batter to complete 12000 runs in T20 format (T20 internationals + List A games, will now have to wait for IPL to achieve the milestone.

Kohli is currently the highest run-getter in T20 Internationals with 4037 runs in 117 games played so far.

Kohli made a comeback to T20Is after a hiatus of 14 months having last played in the shortest format in the T20 World Cup 2022 semi-final. He played a 16-ball 29-run cameo in the second T20I against Afghanistan on Sunday after missing the first one due to personal reasons.
