NEW DELHI: Team India, led by captain Rohit Sharma and batting stalwart Virat Kohli, is determined to overcome the disappointment of losing the ODI World Cup at home. Their primary focus now shifts towards clinching victory in the upcoming T20 World Cup, just a few months away.
India, who last won the T20 World Cup way back in 2007 under Mahendra Singh Dhoni's captaincy, suffered a six-wicket defeat at the hands of Australia in the ODI World Cup final.
Former India cricketer Piyush Chawla feels the senior pros - Virat and Rohit - would want to do something 'special' to add an ICC silverware to their elusive cabinet.
The upcoming ICC T20 World Cup is scheduled to take place from June 4 to 30 this year, hosted jointly by the West Indies and the United States.

They want to do something special to really win the World Cup," Piyush Chawla told Star Sports.
"You don’t think like there is baggage or something because once you are on the field, you don’t think about what happened in the past, you are just living that current situation. If you ask me personally, I would say that experience matters in crunch situations,” he said.
Virat signed off the 2023 ICC ODI World Cup with 765 runs in 11 matches, including the record-breaking 50th ODI century. He batted at an average of 95.62 in the mega competition.
Three centuries and six half centuries - that's how Virat stamped his authority in the 13th edition of the quadrennial event and was deservingly named 'Player of the Tournament'.
The Indian run-machine surpassed the tally of 673 runs scored by a single batter in the 2003 World Cup. The record was previously held by his idol Sachin Tendulkar.
