Viral video of car veering onto wrong side of road prompts police charges

New South Wales Police have charged a man after a video of him allegedly driving on the wrong side of the road went viral on social media.

The 39-year-old was charged with several offences, including driving in a dangerous manner and negligent driving.

Police said a member of the public filmed a Nissan Skyline driving dangerously near Cessnock, in the Hunter Valley, about 11:30am on Sunday.

The video has been viewed and shared thousands of times online.

Jess Green, who filmed the incident and uploaded it to Facebook, described the alleged incident as "shocking".

"I didn't know what was going on and my kids were freaking out and I just had to record," she said.

"It was so scary. People and families all innocent could have been hurt."

The vehicle and driver were located at 12:40pm on Sunday.

The driver was arrested and taken to Cessnock Hospital where he had blood and urine testing.

He will appear at Kurri Kurri Local Court on January 11.
