Viral Video: Devotees rain lakhs on Gujarati singer until he disappears under cash, but he keeps performing without missing a beat

A viral video from Gujarat has left social media both amused and stunned after folk singer Gopal Sadhu was nearly buried under piles of cash while performing at a traditional Dayro event.

The incident reportedly took place in Khambhaliya village near Junagadh, where devotees showered the bhajan singer with currency notes as he continued singing without missing a beat.

Viral Video Shows Singer Calmly Performing Under Piles of Notes

In the now widely shared clip, Sadhu can be seen seated on stage playing the harmonium while people continuously place bundles and sacks of cash around him.

At one point, the pile reportedly became so large that the singer was almost completely hidden from view. Despite the chaos around him, he carried on with the performance calmly, which only added to the internet’s fascination.

The video has since spread rapidly across Instagram, X and other social media platforms, with users posting a mix of jokes, disbelief and concern.

One user joked: “This is called true work from home. Just sitting and getting drenched in the rain of notes.”

Another wrote: “I hope he is able to breathe properly. He is singing while they are adding the notes.”

A third user commented: “Hopefully, some of this money is directed towards the welfare of the poor and needy.”

What Is a Dayro?

A Dayro is a traditional Gujarati folk gathering that blends music, storytelling, devotional singing and humour. These events are especially popular across rural parts of Gujarat and often attract huge crowds.

At many such programmes, showering singers with cash is considered part of the cultural tradition and a gesture of appreciation from devotees and attendees.

Similar Cash Shower Videos Have Gone Viral Before

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time videos like this have surfaced from Gujarat.

In previous years, similar clips featuring renowned folk and bhajan singer Kirtidan Gadhvi also went viral after audiences showered him with currency notes during performances.

In 2023, Gadhvi received a massive cash shower during a bhajan event organised by Valsad Agniveer Gau Seva Dal in Valsad.

Before that, in 2022, another video from Navsari showed him being showered with notes reportedly worth nearly Rs 50 lakh during a programme.

Similar incidents were also reported in 2017 and 2018, showing how deeply rooted the tradition remains in parts of Gujarat’s folk music culture.

Why These Videos Keep Going Viral

Part of the fascination online comes from the sheer visual spectacle of seeing singers literally covered in money while continuing to perform as though nothing unusual is happening.

But beyond the viral clips, organisers and attendees often say the collected money is later used for community welfare, religious activities or social causes linked to the event.

Even so, every time such videos surface online, they spark fresh debate around extravagance, tradition and public display of wealth, especially in the social media era.
