Viral video chart: Star Wars: The Force Awakens gets spoofed, Tom Cruise’s brush with a bus

Tom Cruise v London bus

For people of a certain age, this week brought something that transported them back to being an awe-struck sci-fi nerd as Disney released a teaser for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. And it didn’t take long for the first spoofs to turn up on YouTube, including this one imagining what the film would be like if Wes Anderson had directed it.

Tom Cruise has been in the Smoke filming the latest instalment of the Mission Impossible franchise, but it would appear that he missed the US version of the Green Cross Code as he forgot to look both ways while crossing the street and had a close encounter (a bit) of the double-decker kind.

A trip (in the Grateful Dead sense) down memory lane as Jane Seymour returns as Doctor Quinn, but she has morphed (you’ll geddit when you see it) into a far darker incarnation of the town’s medico. Walter White ain’t got nothing on her.

Now, we at Guardian Towers know what busy people you all are, and as the inevitable round-ups of 2014’s best songs start hitting the web, who has time to listen to all of them? Luckily, the good people at Mashable have boiled down some of the biggest hits into this rather impressive three-minute video.

Last week, viral video featured Beyoncé’s 7/11, which as all very nice of course, but not particularly funny – so to widen your Friday smile, have a butcher’s at the take these chaps have conjured up.

Jimmy Bullard waved goodbye to I’m a Celebrity this week, but he’s still on our screens as he video bombs Good Morning Britain. He’s got some front.

Russell Brand has been in the headlines again as he was called a hypocrite over his support for New Era estate residents in London. Here he asks who the real hypocrites are.

Speaking of questions, proof positive that some people have far too much time on their hands as this gent answers one that has vexed literally no one for years: Is the Earth actually flat?
