It feels like a bit of a cop-out putting a Beyoncé music video in the top spot. Everything she does goes ‘viral’, but this video for her track 7/11 deserves its place at number one. Unusual for a star worth $350m, this music video looks like it was shot on an iPhone, making it a music video for the selfie generation.
Next up, we have a clip that makes us like Jennifer Aniston even more. BBC Radio 1’s Chris Stark interviewed the actress last year and the video was watched 2.6m times on YouTube. This time, Radio 1’s Scott Mills wanted to make the interview just as memorable, so he asked Aniston to play the role of “worst interviewee ever”. The result is very hard to watch.
Just when we thought there was nothing left to film with a GoPro camera, this group of friends sent a tandoori lamb chop into space and filmed it (for a PR stunt). After the group launched the chop into the atmosphere with a two-metre wide weather balloon, they waited five months until they found the camera with their contact details on. It had recorded over 100 minutes of the intrepid chop’s space odyssey.
Why are people on the internet so mean to famous people? Probably because they think the following will never happen. American TV host Jimmy Kimmel has put together another installment of “Celebrities Read Mean Tweets”, in which – you guessed it – celebrities read out mean tweets about themselves. It was only posted a week ago and it’s already had 17m views on YouTube.
Elsewhere on the internet is a video purporting to show a girl dancing on the subway in Iran to protest against the country’s oppressive public decency laws; a teeny-weeny American Football prodigy who can run with the best of them – Girl Power! – and, in a change of tone, Obama delivers a Thanksgiving message to the American people.
