A TikTok video has gone viral of a Tallaght taxi man being conned by a teenage thug and having his phone stolen.
The video, which was uploaded on Tuesday, shows footage from a dashcam inside the taxi.
The driver opened his window to speak to the youth, thinking that he was a potential customer.
Another youngster can be seen in the rear window walking behind the car.
The youth asked if the taxi man could bring him to Saggart and while the driver is momentarily distracted, the thug grabbed his phone and sprinted off.
The taxi man chased after the brazen teen and yelled after him but it is unclear if the phone was retrieved.
A spokesperson for An Garda Siochana told Dublin Live: "Gardaí are investigating an incident of theft that occurred on Drumcairn Avenue in Tallaght, Dublin 24 on 18th January 2021 at approximately 6pm.
"A mobile phone was taken from a vehicle.
"Investigations are ongoing."
