Violent thugs jailed for attempted murder of man in brutal knife attack

Two violent thugs who tried to murder a man in a brutal knife attack were jailed for a total of 15 years today.

Hayden Stewart and Curtis White launched the assault on Alan Perrie at a street in Stirling.

During the murder bid the pair repeatedly punched the victim to the head and body and struck him with a knife.

White also threw a glass at his face and swung a bag at him during the attack in Laurencecroft Road, in Stirling, on December 28 in 2019.

White, 26, also tried to rob Mr Perrie after brandishing a blade at him and demanding he hand over personal belongings.

A judge jailed White for eight years for his part in the offences and sentenced Stewart, 23, to seven years imprisonment.

Lady Haldane also ordered at the High Court in Edinburgh that the pair should be monitored for a further three years as an added public protection measure.

Stewart and White, both prisoners at Low Moss jail, at Bishopbriggs, near Glasgow, had earlier denied a string of charges at a trial at the High Court in Glasgow.

But the jury found them both guilty of the attempted murder of Mr Perrie during as assault to his severe injury, permanent disfigurement and to the danger of his life. White was also convicted of the robbery bid.

Stewart was also convicted of being in illegal possession of a knife at Strathmore Drive, in Stirling and White was convicted of the same offence at Laurencecroft Road.
