Violent thug attacks man with hammer in Leeds cash point robbery

Police have released CCTV images of a man they want to question about a violent cash point robbery in Leeds city centre.

A 24-year-old man was knocked unconscious and his wallet was stolen when he was using a cash point at West Point, in Wellington Street, shortly after 2am on Saturday, October 12.

His friend was then chased by the thief and hit with a hammer, while running along Whitehall Road towards Holbeck.

Both men were treated for bruising and swelling in hospital after the attack.

West Yorkshire Police say the man in the CCTV images (shown above) was caught on camera using the victim’s bank card after the robbery.

In a statement, police said: "Anyone who recognises him or who has any information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact Leeds District Crime Team via 101 and quote crime reference number 13190523713."
