Violent thug ambushes young woman from behind, throws her to ground in horror early morning north Dublin mugging

Two people have been arrested after a young woman was robbed in a terrifying early morning incident.

The victim, a girl in her early 20s, was walking on Ballymun Road shortly before 1 o'clock today when she was approached from behind and thrown to the ground.

A man snatched her smart phone and fled the scene on foot.

Quick-acting gardai soon arrested a man and a woman, aged in their 40s and 30s respectively, following a search of the area.

They also recovered the stolen phone.

A garda spokesman said: "The man and woman are currently being detained at Ballymun Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984."
