'Violent' prisoner on the run

A potentially violent prisoner is on the run after absconding from jail at the weekend.

Paul Archer absconded from HMP Kirkham yesterday (Sunday, August 4). 

The 35-year-old was sentenced to 12 years for offences including aggravated burglary with intent, attempting to pervert the course of justice, burglary and theft at Sheffield Crown Court in March 2015.

Lancashire police have now issued an appeal to secure his return to custody.

A spokesperson for the force said: “We are appealing for information about Archer’s whereabouts.

“He has absconded from prison and we want to find him as soon as possible.

“If you have seen him or knows where he is, please come forward and contact police.”

The prisoner is described as as white, 6ft tall, of medium build with blue eyes and brown hair. He has a scar above his left eye and a tattoo on his right arm of a golden eagle.

Archer could be violent and people are advised to call police immediately if they see him.
