A gang of five thugs jumped from a car and battered a man in a Paisley street, leaving him badly injured.
Detectives are hunting the yobs who launched the vicious assault in Traquair Avenue, Foxbar.
The 25-year-old victim suffered wounds to his head, arms and body during the mindless onslaught.
Cops probing the violent attack last night revealed that the suspects got out of a white car before setting about the victim with kicks and punches.
They then sped off, leaving the stricken man injured in the street at around 5pm on Wednesday.
It is understood he did not go to hospital immediately, but sought treatment the following day.
Cops said they are carrying out enquiries in the area and are looking for CCTV footage.
Detective Inspector Ian Ross, from Paisley CID, said members of the public could hold the key to identifying the attackers.
He said: “Police are investigating after a 25-year-old man was seriously assaulted by a group of men in Traquair Avenue, Paisley, at around 5pm on Wednesday evening.
“We believe a group of five men alighted from a white motor vehicle and attacked the victim in the street.
“The victim sustained a number of injuries to his upper body.”
He added: “We are carrying out a range of enquiries in the area in an effort to establish the identities of those responsible for this mindless attack.
“We would urge anyone in the area at the time and who may have witnessed what happened to get in touch with police.
“I would also urge drivers to check dashcam footage to see if they captured anything that may be useful to our investigation, particularly if you captured a white motor vehicle in the vicinity.”
