Violent Femmes bassist Brian Ritchie once declared: “the key to longevity is to doggedly pursue your ideas to their conclusion.” Although the Wisconsin natives have stopped and started over the last four decades, their cult status remains intact.

The alt-rock band are known for their raw and inventive fusion of folk and punk, sarcasm and spirituality. The culmination of all four is possibly best seen in their anthemic single Blister in the Sun.

In 2015, after a 15 year hiatus, singer/guitarist Gordon Gano, drummer Brian Viglione and Brian Ritchie returned to Australia to play in Sydney and at Tasmania’s Mona Foma festival. At that time, the trio recorded their Happy New Year EP. Now they are playing headline shows across Australia.
