At least five journalists have been killed on the job this year alone, and about two dozen have been attacked or targeted for their reporting.
Corporate interests have suppressed news stories that showed business houses in poor light on multiple occasions. And instead of ensuring that the press can do its job without any obstructions, the government itself has gone after the voices that ask tough questions – banning of YouTube news channels like 4PM the latest case in point.
