The MAGAs aren’t having a great week as President Trump’s recent antics have opened the floodgates of criticism, and people are not holding back. There is no more sugar coating involved. People are using the harshest language to denounce Trump’s repeated failure to represent American citizens and ensure their welfare. Michael Pfleger, a well-known American Catholic priest and social activist from Chicago, is the most recent to jump on the bandwagon.
After US President Donald Trump authorised the deployment of 300 National Guard troops to Chicago this week to combat what he believes to be uncontrollable crime, Pfleger expressed his thoughts on the matter. While addressing a congregation in the city, he took a bold anti -Trump stand by highlighting that Chicago was not the city that needed attention, but America. He explained that there is a state of emergency affecting the entire country, which he attributes to Trump and his administration. He continued:
Dr King said he could not raise his voice against the violence of the oppressed without having first spoken clearly to the greater purveyor of the violence, his own country. And, those are my words to you, Mr Trump.”
Michael Pfleger doubled down on his comments about Trump by mentioning that before he dared to speak about the violence in Chicago, he should look into the mirror and address “the violence coming from the White House.”
He continued his speech by highlighting how various medical sectors and the individuals benefiting from available schemes are going to be affected by the revised actions of Trump and his government. He stated:
“The violence of cutting SNAP, which will cut $2.4 million in food access, with 3,60,000 Illinoisans at risk by putting food off their table. Address the violence of cutting money in Medicare and Medicaid by 500 million dollars reducing access to doctors and threatening the closure of hospitals and nursing home facilities throughout the state of Illinois, literally putting Americans in life and death situations”
He also stated that as a result of his and his government’s actions, many Americans will be left to die.
