Vinyl, clothes, books and coffee - welcome to Leith's trendiest one-stop shop

Where once stood a William Hill bookies, 138 Easter Road now plays home to a brand new independent business.

It Started in the North throws open its doors to Leith next Thursday 12 March and promises to be a one-stop shop filled with clothing, books, records and coffee on offer.

The new community-minded store has a major focus on the UK subcultures of mods and casuals - so expect rails to be filled with Ellese, Fila, Best Company and more - as well as upcoming collaborations with independent brands from both Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Speaking to business owner Brett Rowden, he said: "The idea for the shop came from me shopping in Edinburgh one day for myself and needing to go into 6-7 shops to get things (clothes, records, books, coffee) when I realised that one shop could easily do them all and cater to the subcultures that we focus on.

"We'd love people to pop in even for a chat - obviously we offer a very mixed bag so it is an experimental business idea but we're confident that Edinburgh and Leith locals will get behind us."

Opening on Thursday, find out more about It Started in the North on their Instagram here .
