Vintage watches and jewellery worth £40,000 burgled from flat in Bromley

Jewellery and vintage watches worth £40,000 have been stolen from a flat discovered ransacked in south east London.

Raiders struck while the residents were out for the day in Shortlands, Bromley, which is close to the Southeastern railway station.

When they returned, several valuable items were missing as well as £800 in cash.

The haul included several vintage and gold watches, yellow gold stirrup cufflinks in a chain design, a white gold and diamond necklace and matching earrings, and diamond and pearl earrings.

A vintage solid yellow gold Dunhill Rolagas lighter and a Samsonite dark grey or black suitcase were among stolen items.

Metropolitan Police officers are keen to speak to two men who were seen leaving the building by the main exit at around 5.30pm on December 21.

The first suspect is white, of slim build and around 5ft 10ins.

He was wearing a dark beanie hat, white face mask and a short dark bomber jacket.

The second burglar is also white but stocky with dark hair and an unkempt beard.

He was around 5ft 6ins, wearing a gold earring, hat, short jacket and a white cloth face mask. One of the men was carrying a bag.

Detective Constable Aaron Cody, leading the investigation, said: "When someone’s home is burgled, it feels like a very personal invasion and it can cause great distress.

"Londoners should feel safe when they are in their homes and so we are working hard to crack down on crimes like these.

"As well as the emotional impact of this crime, the victims have also lost several items worth a considerable sum.

"We are keen to speak to anyone who can help in anyway. Maybe you were in the area at the time and saw something suspicious. Or maybe you have heard about individuals who are trying to sell items matching the descriptions of what was taken."
